 당신은 현재의 기독교회가 처해 있는 상황에 대해서 무엇을 알고 있는가? 당신은 우리들이 안전하며, 모든 위협으로부터 보호받는다고 생각하는가? 당신은 많은 기독교회들, 그러나 거듭났다고 알려진 기독교인들에 의해 저질러 지는 그 수많은 범죄들에 대해서 어떻게 설명할 것인가? 당신은 이 문제에 대해 한 번이라도 곰곰이 생각해 본 적이 있는가?

   

 "시대의 표적들"은 당신을 우리시대의 건전하지 못한 신학풍조에 뒤떨어지지 않게 하기 위해, 알고-경고해주는 새로운 프로그램의 이름이다. 또한 오늘날 우리들의 교회에 너무나 만연하고 있는 매우 비성경적인 풍조들의 잠재적인 위험에 대해 경고해주는 것이기도 하다. TTM의 이 분야에 대한 견해들은 여러가지로 제시되고 있으며, TTM 홀로 모든 내용의 책임이 있다. 

  

 만약에 이 기사를 보다가 어떤 질문이나 의견이 있다면, rvkim@yahoo.com으로 내용을 보내주기를 바란다. 그러면 그 내용을 검토한 뒤에, 큰 이변이 없는 한 하루나 이틀 안에 답을 보내줄 것이다. 기독교회가 잘못하고 있는 것에 대한 상호간의 관심사에 대해 정직해지도록 하자. 옛 속담에, "나중에 후회하는 것보다는 조심하는게 낫다"라는 말이 있다. 그리고, "sorry in terms of our faith(믿음에 따르는 피해??)"라는 말은 우리에게 하나님의 진노가 따르게 하는 말이다. 이것은 정말로 자신이 크리스찬이라고 주장하는 이들이라면 모두가 함께 진지하게 숙고해야하는 긴급한 문제이다.

 

 지금부터 우리들은 반드시 다루어야만 하는 성경의 권위에 대해서 제일 먼저 다룰 것이다. 오늘날 경험하는 아주 기분 나쁜 일 중에 하나는, 점점 더 많은 수의 목사와 교수와 젊은 사역자들이 대놓고 성경의 절대적인 무오성과 불오성을 부인한다는 것이다. 물론 이것은 하루 아침에 생겨난 것이 아니다. 이것은 그들이 성경의 명백한 권위를 부인하고 대신 그들만의 혼합물을 채택한지 수십 년이 지났을 것이다.

 

 오늘날에는 무슨 일이든지 허용되는 것처럼 보인다. 많은 사람들이 그들 자신의 생각을 제시하고 그들을 기쁘게 하는 방법으로 남들을 가르친다. 성경의 절대권위는 지독하게 무시되며, 그렇지 않다면 전적으로 폐기되어 버린다.

 

 우선, 예비적인 질문부터 해보기로 하자. : 당신은 하나님께서 아담을 흙으로부터 당신의 형상으로 지으셨다고 믿는가? 당신은 아담이 타락했으며, 그의 죄는 의문의 여지없이 우리의 후세대들에게 전가되었으며, 우리들은 하나님 앞에서 모두가 죄인임을 믿는가?  당신은 우리들이 지성, 감성, 의지에 있어서 영적으로 파산상태(영적소경)이며, 우리 스스로 하나님을 추구할 수도 없고, 그 누구도 하나님께서 당신의 기쁘신 뜻을 따라 먼저 그를 당신에게로 이끌어주시기 전까지는 구원받을 수 없다는 것을 믿는가? (요 6:44) 

 

 당신은 예수님께서 우리의 유일한 구속자이시며, 당신이 저질렀고 저지르게 될 죄의 형벌을 십자가에서 지불하기시 위해 죽으셨다는 것을 믿는가? 당신은 그분이 문자적으로 삼 일 만에 죽은 자 가운데서 일어나셨고, 이 후 40일을 이 땅에서 보내셨고 하늘에 오르사, 부활하신 그대로 지금도 하늘에서 다스리고 계신다는 것을 믿는가? (번역하기 꽤 어렵군요...ㅜ.ㅜ) 당신은 하늘로 올려지신 그 예수님께서 그 모습 그대로, 세상 마지막 날, 큰 심판의 날에 산 자와 죽은 자를 심판하러 다시 오실 것이라는 것을 믿는가?

 

 당신은 당신의 육체가(만약 당신이 그리스도께서 다시 오시기전에 죽는다면) 그 마지막 날에, 육체적으로 죽은 상태였지만, 주님과 함께 있었던 당신의 영혼과 다시 하나되기 위해 다시 살아난다는 것을 믿는가? 당신은 회심하지 않은 자들이 영원히 고통을 당하는 물질적인 형태의 지옥과 구원 받은 이들이 영원히 즐거워하는 문자적인 천국의 실재를 믿는가?

 

 만약에 이 모든 질문에 당신의 대답이 전심으로 "그렇습니다"라고 나온다면, 당신은 당신의 구원에 있어 아무런 문제가 없다. 당신은 구원받았다. 반면에 당신의 대답이 "아니오"라고 나온다면, 당신은 확실히 하나님과의 관계에 문제가 있는 것이다. 이것이 내가 여기에서 매우 논지를 분명하게 하려는 것이다. 당신이 보듯이, 수많은 목사들과 교수들이 이런 성경적 선언(교리)들에 대해서 동의하지 않는다. 

 

 그들은 저 교리들이 우리가 처한 문제들에 있어, <시대에 맞지 않고, 유효하지 않다>고 확고하게 주장한다. 핵심적인 성경적 교리들 중 어떤 것은 시대가 변한다고 변하는가? 누가 저 위대한 오래된 성경 진리들을 개정하고 수정할 수 있는가? 아니다, 그런 뻔뻔한 생각을 한다는 것 자체가 터무니 없는 것이다. 하나님께서는 당신의 완전한 말씀을 성경에 기록하시기 위해 사람들을 세우셨다. 그러므로 성경은 어떤 인간적 기원을 가진 평범한 책이 아니다. 그것은 하나님께서 그의 숨을 불어넣으신 영감된 말씀이다. (디모데후서 3장 16절)  디모데후서 3장 16절의 그 구절, 영어로 하면, "하나님에 의해 영감된"에 해당하는 그리스어, "theopneutos"는 문자적으로 "하나님-숨을 불어넣다"는 의미로 말하는 것이다.

 

 오늘날의 기독교계의 문제는 하나님께서 주신 절대권위인 성경의 노골적인 거절이다. 예를 들면, 지옥과 저주에 관한 교리는 많은 더 이상 많은 "크리스천"에게 받아들여지지 않는다. 우리가 듣게 되는 복음의 목적은 믿는 자들에게 어떤 종류의 물질적인 풍요를 가져다주는 것이다. 그리하여, 예수를 믿는 이들은 절대로 감기나 질병 자동차 사고, 가난을 당하지 않게 된다는, 요컨대, 물질적으로 번창하고 번창하는 것에 대한 새로운 사상들이 현 세대에 유행하고 있다.

 

 브루스 윌킨슨의 "야베스의 기도"와 같은 책이 불티나게 팔리는 것이 그다지 놀랍지 않은 시대인 것이다. 우리는 이 시점에서 완벽하게 정직해야 한다. 한 번이라도 성경적 야베스와 같은 책을 읽음으로 부자가 된 이가 있었는가? 조금도 그런 일은 없다. 오직 윌킨슨씨 홀로 엄청난 부를 축적하여 부자가 될 뿐이다.

 

 당신은 살아가는 동안 다가오는 이런저런 환란과 고통을 말하는 성경의 이야기를 알지 못하는가? 특별히 "그리스도를 위하여 너희에게 은혜를 주신 것은 다만 그를 믿을 뿐 아니라 또한 그를 위하여 고난도 받게 하려 하심이라"고 한 빌립보서 1장 29절을 읽어보라. 또, 요한복음 16:33절에서 우리는, "세상에서는 너희가 환란을 당하니, 담대하라, 내가 세상을 이기었노라"라고 하신 것을 읽을 수 있다. 신자들은 고통으로부터 면제를 받은 것이 아니라, 그의 은혜로 인해 그리스도 안에 있는 믿음으로 싸워 이겨나가는 것이라고 할 수 있다. 로마서 8장 18절을 스스로 찾아서 거기에 뭐라고 적혀있는지 읽어보라.

 

 우리들은 같은 요점을 너무 오래 숙고하기를 원하지는 않는다. 다른 것을 살펴보자. 지옥의 교리에 대해서는 어떤가? 그것은 좀 어떤가? 글쎄, 당신이 보는 것처럼, 많은 현대의 학자들이 지옥이 없다고 말한다. 그들은 말하기를, "사람들이 과거에는 물리적 실재의 지옥을 믿은 적이 있었지만 지금은 더 이상 그렇지 않다"고 한다.

 

 우리는 빈번하게 자유주의 학자들이 미래는 일어나지 않았기 때문에, 사실상 하나님께서 미래에 대해 알지 못하신다고 말하는 것을 듣게 된다. 이 얼마나 이단적인 사상인가! 그들은 진정 전능하신 하나님, 천국과 지옥의 창조자께서, 미래에 대해 알지 못한다고 말하는 것인가? 만약 하나님께서 미래에 대해 알지 못하신다면 구원도 없다는 사실에 대해 그들이 뭐라고 하는지 듣고 싶어진다. 왜냐하면 한 번도 본적도 없고 존재하지 않을 지도 모르는 천국이라는 장소가 존재한다는 사실을 그들은 어떻게 알게 되었는가 말이다!  이 최신 사상은 그레고리 보이스나 클락 피녹과 그의 제자들과 같은 사람들에 의해 받아들여진다. 좀 이름 있는 신학교에서 가르치는 이런 교수들을 기억하라. 그들의 학생으로부터 졸업생까지, 그들이 그들의 회중에게 설교할 때 당신은 무엇을 기대하겠는가?

 

 이것이 왜 자유주의 교회가 크게 도약하고 약동하는 정확한 이유인 반면에, 보수적인 상대방은 줄어들고 있는데, 사람들이 견고한 교리에 대해서 더 이상 관심이 없기 때문이다. 그들은 그것이 성경적이거나 말거나 상관없이 그들 스스로의 복음을 원한다. 다시 한 번 나는 오늘날의 시대의 표적을 보기 위해 디모데후서 4장 1~6절까지를 읽어보기를 권한다.

 

 다른 한 편에서는, 찰스 다윈의 학파가 명백하게 창조이론을 완전히 거절하고. 오늘날 그들의 순진한 학생들에게 저주받을 진화론 이단사설을 주입하기 위해 노력하고 있다. 사람은 하나님에 의해 그의 형상대로 창조되었는가? 아니면 그냥 단순히 원숭이와 같은 하급 생물체로부터 진화한 것인가? 우리들은 오늘날의 학교에서 너무도 많이 다윈이론을 믿는 이들을 보게 된다. 창조이론은 교실에서 엄격하게 금지되지만 진화와 유신론적 진화이론은 실질적으로 아무런 저항없이 광범위하게 가르쳐진다. 더군다나 기독활동은 공공학교에서 가능한 한 많이 축소되었지만, 타 종교의 활동들은 학교 위원회에 의해 묵과될 뿐 아니라, 검증되지도 않은 채로 온화하게 권장되고 있다.

 

 당신이 보는 것처럼, 가장 기본적인 성경적 가르침인 창조, 오직 은혜에 의한 구원, 지옥과 저주, 그리스도의 십자가 속죄, 동정녀 탄생, 육체적인 부활과 재림을 거절하는 이런 추세는 증가하고 있다. 교회는 성경적 진리로부터 멀어지고 있다. 진리를 위한 자리가 없다. 이것이 우리가 현재 보고 있는 시대의 표적의 한 측면이다. 깨어있고 경성하여야 한다.

 

 당신에게 하고 싶은 내 마지막 말은, "진리를 알지니 진리가 너희를 자유게 하리라(요 8:32)"는 말이다. 주께서 허락하신다면, 우리는 다음 시간에 다른 테마에 대해서 계속하려고 한다.

 

 그 동안 위대한 진리이신 그분 안에 머물러 있으라.

   What do you know about today's Christian Church in her current setting?  Do you think we are safe and secure from all alarms?  How do you account for so many Christian churches yet so much crimes committed by allegedly "born-again" Christians?   Have you ever stopped to think about it?

   "The Signs of the Times" is the name of our new  know-and-be-alert program to keep you abreast with the unhealthy theological climate in our times and to warn you of the potential danger of some of very unbiblical trends which are so rampant in our Church today. Views expressed are those of the TTM and TTM alone is responsible for the whole content.  

   Should you, upon reviewing this article, have any comment or a question, you may forward yours to the webmaster at rvkim@yahoo.com, and you shall hear our response within a day or two unless there is some unexpected circumstances beytond our control.  Let us be frank with our mutual concern about things that are going wrong in the Christian Church.   An old adage goes, "Better safe than sorry." And "sorry in terms of our faith" entails God's wrath upon us.  This indeed is a matter of urgent and serious consideration to all who claim to be Christians.

   Today we will deal with our first theme which has to do with the authority of the Bible.  One of the obnoxious things we experience today is to see an increasingly large number of pastors, scholars and youth workers flatly deny the absolute inerrancy and infllibility of Scripture.  Of course this is not something that has developed overnight. It has been many decades since they jettisoned the unequivocal biblical authority to adopt their own concoction instead.

   It seems that almost anything goes today. Many people come up with their own  idea and teach others the way they are pleased with.  The absoluteness of the Scripture is grossly ignored if not jettisoned altogether.

   Now, what do we mean by the statement that people ignore the absoluteness of the Bible?  Well, you may raise that question quite legitimately, and that's a good question demanding a reasonable answer based upon the Scripture because Scripture alone is our authority and Scripture alone is the sole guide of our life and faith.

   To begin with, let me put his preliminary question: Do you believe God created Adam of dust and in His own image?  Do you believe that Adam fell and his sin is unquestionably imputed and passed on to his posterity, and that we all are sinners before God?  Do you believe that we are spiritually bankrupt (spiritually blind) in our intellect, emotion, and volition and cannot come to God on our own, and that no one can be saved unless God first draws us to Him according to His own good pleasure (John 6:44)?  

   Do you believe that Jesus, our one and only Redeemer, died on the cross to pay the penalty of your sin you have ever committed and you will ever commit in the days to come?  Do you believe that He literllay arose on the third day from the dead and was taken up to heaven after spending 40 days on this earth following  His bodily resurrection to reign in heaven?  Do you believe that the same Jesus that was taken up to heaven will return to judge the quick and the dead at the last day of the world, the Great Judgment Day?  

   Do you believe that your body (if you die before Christ returns) will on the last day be resurrected to be united with your soul which had gone to be with the Lord at the time of your physical death?  Do you believe in the existence of physical hell where the unpenitent will suffer eternally and in the existence of literal heaven where the saved will enjoy for eternity?

   If your answer to all these questions be a big hearty "YES," you have no problem in terms of your salvation. You are saved.  If on the other hand your answers be "NO," you surely are in trouble with God.  This is precisly the point I am trying to make here. You see, there are any number of pastors and seminary professors who do not accept these biblical doctrines.

   They assert that those doctrines are <out-dated and invalid,> wherein lies our problem.  Does any of the core biblical doctrines change as time changes?  Can any one revise or amend the grand old biblical truth?  No, it is absurd even to think of such audacidy.  God had His holy men of old inscripturate
His very Word in the Bible.  The BIble, therefore, is not an ordinary book of some human origin. It is God who breathed His breath into the Word (II Tim. 3;16).  Speaking of the paassge of II TIm 3:16, the Greek word for English "inspired by God," is "theopneustos," which literlly means "God-breathed."  Period.

   The problem with today's Christendom is outright rejection of the absolute authority of the God-given Scripture. The doctrine of hell and damnation, for example, is no longer embraced by many "Christians."  The purpose of Gospel, we are told, is to bring physical well-being of some kind to the believers.  Thus, a new idea is in vogue today that if you believe in Jesus you will never come down with a flu, nor malady, nor auto accident, nor poverty, and, in sum, you will materially prosper and prosper...  

   Little wonder then that a book like Bruce Wilkinson's "Jabeth's Prayer" is   sold like a hot cake.  We have to be perfectly honest here.  Does any one get rich by reading the book as biblical Jabeth once was?  Not a bit. The only one who got rich was the author Mr.Wilkinson himself who could deposit a tremendous amount of profit out of the sale.  

   Do you not know the biblical figures all went through tribulation and afflication of one kind or another while they walked in this life?
Read the Scrpture especially Phil 1:29f, "For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake,"  Again, turn to John's Gospel at John 16:33 where we read, "...in the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I [Christ] have overcome the world."   It is not that believers are exempt from afflication but rather that believers in faith in Christ do overcome it by His grace.  Read Rom. 8:18 for yourself to see what it says there.

   We do not want to dwell on the same point too long. Let us move on.  What about the doctrine of hell?  What about it?  Well, you see, many scholars today say there is no hell. They say, "people used to believe the physical existence of hell in the past, but not any longer."  

   We frequently hear some  liberal scholars saying again in effect that God does not know the future because the future has not been transpired!" What a heretical idea!  Do they mean to say that Almighty God, Maker of heavens and hell, cannot know the future?  Let me hasten to respond to them if they do not believe that God cannot know the future they have no salvation because how do they know that there is a place called heaven which he has never seen and may  not exist!

   The latter idea was embraced by men like Gregory Boyd and Clark Pinnock and a host of his disciples.  Remember now these are professors of theological seminaries of some fame.  What do you expect from their students, upon graduation, as they preach to their their congregation?

   This is precisely the reason why liberal churches are flourishing leaps and bounds, while conservative counterparts are shrinking because people are not interested in sound doctrine any more. They want their own kind of gospel, be it biblical or not.  Again let me suggest that you read II Tim. 4: 1-6 to see the signs of the times today.

   on the other hand, Charles Darwin's clan flatly rejected Creationism in toto and tried to indoctrinate their gullible students of our days in damnable heresy of evolution.  Is man created by God in His image or simply evolved from a lower form of life, say, monkeys?  We see so many Darwins in our public schools today.  Creationism is strictly banned from classroom but Evolution and the theory of Theistic Evolution are widely taught virtually with no resistence. Moreover, Christian activities are curtailed as much as possible in many public schools, yet activities of other types of religions are not only condoned by the school authorities but also generously encouraged unchecked.

   You see, our growing tendency is that people reject such cardinal biblical teachings of  Creationism, Salvation by Grace alone, Hell and Damnation, Christ's Atoning Death on the Cross, His Virgin Birth, His Bodily Resurrection and HIs Physical Parousia or the Second Coming amongst others.  Churches are falling away from the biblical truth. There is no place for the truth.  This is one aspect of the Signs of the Times we see today.  Wake up and be alert.

   My final note for you is "You shall know the Truth and the Truth Shall Make You Free (John 8:32).    Lord willing, we will take up another theme next time.
